About Citizens of AI

Citizens of AI is a community AI initiative rooted in neighborhoods, a bold, multi-generational initiative brought to you by REBRANDX and the Knight Foundation. We are reimagining education and believe the community is the new college. Designed to meet Detroit residents where they are and bring AI education into proximity of people who need it, in neighborhoods, local spaces, churches, and creative spaces where community already thrives, and to eliminate mobility issues.

We believe AI training is not a privilege reserved for tech hubs, corporate campuses, and high-tech institutions. It belongs to the caterer, the gig worker, the artist, the pastor, and the retiree who built this city with their hands. Citizens of AI removes the barriers between everyday Detroiters and the tools that will shape their economic futures.

Through hands-on workshops, storytelling, and community-powered programming, we are equipping residents and everyday people with the practical skills, confidence, and cultural context to use AI on their own terms. This is not about making Detroit tech-forward. It is about making sure Detroit's people are not left behind while it happens.

Every Detroiter has a role in this future. Citizens of AI is where that journey begins.

The House has partnered with some of the world's most iconic brands and institutions, including Disney, AT&T, JPMorgan Chase, the Detroit Pistons, the Knight Foundation, and the City of Los Angeles. It has represented the United States on global trade missions with the U.S. Department of State in AI to Portugal and Morocco, and in fashion and technology with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation in Italy.

The mission is clear: empower one billion people to unlock their genius and accelerate the future, blending AI, innovation, and culture to establish a new global standard for human essential intelligence.
